Birth: There is no record of Pierre's birth, although it is assumed
by family genealogists that he was born between the years of 1628 - 1630
in Chatillon-sur-Seine, France. (Apparently because of religious
persecution and possible local customs, there was sometimes a two year
wait for new babies to be baptized.)

Chatillon-sur-Seine, France.)

des Archives, Dijon Fr.)
Pierre was one of over one hundred "pioneers" recruited by Sieur de
Maisonneuve to help save and develop the small settlement of Ville Marie
(Montreal). The group, known as "The Grande Recrue" arrived at Ville
Marie 15 November 1653.
Pierre and his family, with the exception of Marie and Catherine who were married and living in Lachine, left Ville Marie and settled at Port Royal, Acadia, 06 June 1676. Pierre was contracted by the French Governor in Quebec to rebuild and enlarge the Fort at Port Royal. Once completed, Pierre moved to Beaubassin.
The exact date of Pierre's death is not known, but is considered to be in 1685, as the Acadian census of early 1686 notes Jeanne as a "widow", residing in Port Royal. Pierre's final resting place is also questionable. Was he still in Beaubassin or had he returned to P.R.? All of the records which would answer the question were destroyed by the English in the 1700's as were the desecration of the Acadian cemeteries. Tanguay indicates Pierre's remains are at Montreal. There are no records that indicate this.

Jeanne remarried to Pierre Martin in 1687 at Port royal, and lived till
at least 1752 when the census of that year shows Pierre as a "widower."
Marie Gaudin n/b: 19 April 1657 in Ville Marie.
d/s: 26/27 October 1687 in Lachine, Quebec.
m: 21 November 1672 to Vivien Magdelaine dit La
Douceur
(Source for Marie: Dictionnaire Genealogique des Familles Acadiennes,

Ville Marie did not become "Montreal" until after Pierre left in 1676.
"Ile de Montreal" is Montreal.
There is no "Marie" in Jeanne Rousseliere's name.
The correct name of Pierre's home village in France is: Chatillon
sur-Seine. There are about eight Chatillons in France, so to locate the
right one you have to have the full name. (I didn't know this until
recently and had pinpointed the wrong Chatillon.)
